IndoAgri places a high emphasis on its research and development activities.
The Group operates an advanced agriculture research center. We own in-house capabilities and a strong research and development heritage in the analysis of soil, plant tissue, oil palm, and latex. Our laboratories and comprehensive facilities equip us to perform extensive research in tissue culture and pathology.
Research and development activities are focused in four key areas:
-
Plant breeding: The development of top quality seed and planting material through traditional breeding methods, a diverse germ-plasm base and biotechnology, supported by fields trials that test progenies across a range of breeding environments.
-
Agronomy: Detailed analyses that provide our estates with optimal recommendations on crop management and planting densities, fertilizer, and herbicide usage, as well as predictions on yields and oil extraction rates.
-
Data analysis: The data analyses include the conduct of GPS Survey for mapping plantation blocks and all infrastructures, preparation of topographic maps, and application of Geographic Information System by using Remote Sensing technology for future research analysis and database purposes.
With innovative plant breeding, agronomy and crop protection, the Group aim to improve yields per hectare while reducing labour costs. The Group also leverages research and development and seed-breeding programs to improve production costs, improve environmental sustainability and maximize profitability in the long run.
Our Edible Oils and Fats division employs a team of experienced researchers with the capability to improve and develop new ranges of products needed in different applications by industry and consumers. The Group have a specialty fats simulation laboratory that is capable of producing various kinds of specialty fats for research and development purposes. The Group is conducting research and development in the following areas:
- to improve the quality and consistency of our products;
- to develop specialty fat products for use in cakes, bread, confectioneries and other bakery products; and
- to develop new packaging materials and designs to reduce costs.
Through our research and development efforts, the Group aims to further enhance our competitiveness by improving our cultivation and processing technologies and introducing new cooking oil, margarine and shortening products to fulfill the requirements of industry and consumers.
